I've decided to go shampoo free. I've been considering it for awhile, and decided to take the plunge. I started this morning, and have had a hard time keeping my hands off of my hair all day! Maybe it's just in my mind, but it feels different. Lighter, fuller. I know that I will probably have some issues over the next week or two of excess oil/sebum production, but I'm committed.
I mixed 1 Tbsp. baking soda with 3-4 Tbsp of water and massaged it into my scalp. After rinsing, I poured a mix of apple cider vinegar (approximately 2 Tbsp.) with the same amount of water, on the ends of my hair. I let it set for a few minutes and rinsed. I've read that if you need a little extra conditioning, you can put honey on your hair and then rinse out. I haven't tried that yet. :-)
I came across this book today. It's called, "Hair Gone Wild! Recipes & Remedies for Natural Tresses". I figured it must be a sign that I'm supposed to do this, since it is free (for today, anyway) for Kindle download. Lots and lots of recipes for natural ways to wash/condition your hair, making your own hair gel, and all-natural coloring of your hair.
Have any of you gone shampoo free? Any tips or advice you'd like to share? I'll keep you posted on my progress, and hope to never go back to regular shampoo again!
